Gallatin County residents will have a chance to responsibly dispose of old electronics at a free community recycling event this month.

Gallatin Solid Waste Management District and Recycle Boise are partnering to host the annual Free Electronic Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Logan Landfill.

The event, held in honor of Earth Day, is designed to keep hazardous materials out of landfills and give residents a safe, easy way to dispose of unwanted electronics. E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally and often contains valuable recyclable materials and components that can harm soil and water if improperly disposed of.

Recycle Boise, which is R2v3 and RIOS certified, will securely handle all collected items. Devices containing personal data will be processed in accordance with strict data destruction protocols, offering participants peace of mind.

Accepted items include computers, TVs, printers, radios, phones, cameras, routers, DVD players, stereos, microwaves (clean and tray-free), and a wide range of cords, accessories, and small electronics. Residents unsure about eligibility can call 406-582-2493 for guidance.

The event has been held since 2010, with 2025’s collection totaling 26,840 pounds of electronic waste. Organizers hope to build on that momentum this year.

Visitors dropping off only e-waste do not need to stop at the scale. Signs will direct them to the proper drop-off area. Regular landfill fees apply for other waste, and Logan Landfill also accepts e-waste year-round for a fee during normal business hours.
