The Bozeman Recreation Department is celebrating the opening of the Bozeman Beacon Park on Friday, January 28th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Beall Park, 415 N. Bozeman.

About a year in the making, the idea was the brainchild of the avalanche center's education coordinator and a city recreation activities leader, said Jenny Fiebig of the recreation department. The park will provide opportunities for backcountry users to practice their avalanche-transceiver searching techniques. The new "beacon park" allows skiers, riders and snowmobilers to practice using the life-saving devices.
So come on out to Beall Park a week from this Friday. The Recreation Department will offer food, refreshments, music, and training on how to use the park and your personal transceiver. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 582-2290.
