See Details: New Ground Beef Recall In Montana For E. coli
There's a nationwide recall for packages of ground beef that have been sold at Walmart stores, including Montana. There's a possible E. coli contamination in these small packages of ground beef and it's important to check you fridge and freezer.
The USDA issued this ground beef recall, and it's classified as a "Class 1" recall: "Reasonable probability of serious, adverse health problem or death". E. coli contamination can be a serious health issue. According to the Mayo Clinic:
"Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria normally live in the intestines of healthy people and animals. Most types of E. coli are harmless or cause relatively brief diarrhea. But a few strains, such as E. coli O157:H7, can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting." (Mayo Clinic)
This ground beef recall is for Cargill Beef products and affects over 16,000 pounds of meat sold at Walmart stores across the country. These packages of raw ground beef might be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
