Thunderstorms, rain, dangerous winds, and damaging hail are a serious possibility for dozens of counties across Montana on Friday afternoon into Friday night. It's crucial to keep updated on weather updates today, especially if you're traveling on the roads.

A list of counties and cities affected by Severe Weather Alerts on Friday is below. More Montana counties and towns may be added.

Some locations in just east of the Divide have already experience damaging hail on Friday, up to quarter size. Storm cells and moving fast, and develop quickly.

"A severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop in a specific area. It indicates that there is a potential for thunderstorms to produce wind gusts of 58 mph or higher, hail 3/4 inch or larger in diameter, or both."

  • Some areas of Montana have already experienced damaging hail and gusty winds by early Friday afternoon.
  • Storms are expected to continue until 9pm or later.
