It's open burning season in Gallatin County. Remember, you must buy and activate your burn permit before lighting your fire. Activate a burn permit here.

Residents are asked to take precautions to ensure a controlled burn does not escape. If you are burning, fire officials would like to remind you:

• Don’t burn on dry or windy days
• Place debris in a cleared area away from overhead branches and wires
• Have a reliable water source nearby
• Be sure to stay with your fire until it is out
