Popular Bozeman Restaurant Closes, But a New Restaurant is Coming
A popular downtown Bozeman restaurant has quietly closed its doors, leaving many locals wondering what happened.
Open Range, located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Bozeman, appears to have ceased operations without any public announcement. There is currently no information about the closure posted on the restaurant's social media pages, and no notices have been placed on the building's windows explaining why the business closed.
The restaurant first opened in 2013 and quickly became a staple of Bozeman's dining scene. In early 2023, Open Range was purchased by singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw and his brother, Joey DeGraw, bringing national attention to the well-known restaurant.

While the sudden closure has left many questions unanswered, a new business is already preparing to take over the iconic downtown space.
New Mexican Restaurant Opening in Downtown Bozeman
Meson Frailes, a new Mexican restaurant, is expected to open in the former Open Range location. Details about the restaurant are limited, and an official opening date has not yet been announced. However, signage for the new business is now visible at the Main Street location.
The arrival of Meson Frailes marks the second new Mexican restaurant to open on Main Street this year. Tres Toros Tacos & Tequila welcomed customers in February, adding another option to Bozeman's growing restaurant scene.
Reaction from locals has been mixed. While some are excited to see a vacant downtown space quickly filled, others have expressed disappointment, noting that Bozeman already offers several Mexican dining options.
For now, many residents are still hoping for answers about Open Range's unexpected closure while waiting to see what Meson Frailes brings to downtown Bozeman.
