A Positive Montana Story Guaranteed to Make You Happy
We all make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes can make us feel really stupid. I recently screwed up in a big way, but a local business in Bozeman came to the rescue.
I recently took over the morning show on a radio station that I've loved since I first heard it. The opportunity to be on a station that I've been a fan of for so long is something I don't take for granted. As the new guy, I want to do everything right and try to avoid making mistakes.
Last week, I did a 7-hour live broadcast for 'Can the Griz' at Town & Country Foods on S. 11th in Bozeman. So many people dropped off donations for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, and all of the generosity was truly inspiring.
A Big Thank You to This Awesome Montana Business
When 7PM rolled around, I started to pack everything up and get ready to head home. Spending all day on my feet really took it out of me, and I was exhausted. When I got home for the evening, I realized that I had forgotten something that has been a part of the radio station much longer than I've been around.

It was a handmade wooden sign with the words "Music Really Does Make The World A Better Place." I honestly don't know the exact history of it, but I know it was created by a local artist in Bozeman a long time ago. The only other one that I know of in existence belongs to Cactus Records.
When I realized I forget the sign in front of the store, I instantly felt a sense of dread and sadness. How could I lose something so important? I really felt like a failure.
The next morning, I called the store and explained the situation, and the sentimental value of the sign. I wasn't optimistic about getting it back. I thought it was gone forever. An employee at the store checked security camera footage and was able to see a person pull up in a vehicle and put the sign in the back. At that point, I started to feel a little better.
A couple of days ago, I received a call from an employee at the store, and they told me that the sign had been returned. It was the best news I could have gotten. I picked it up yesterday, so the sign is back where it belongs. I want to thank all of the folks at Town & Country Foods for their work to get the sign back. I can't put into words how much it means to me and the station.
That's one of the many great things about living in Montana. People don't hesitate to step up when others are in need. We take care of each other, regardless of whether or not we make embarrassing mistakes.
