I've really gotten into watching the documentaries on Netflix  Streaming as of lately. I'm not sure if it's my thirst for knowledge or want to feel like I'm not being lazy watching Netflix but it does make me feel a bit inspired and educated after each viewing. Last night I watched, "Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father" and it blew me away.

As always I will tell you just enough to get you interested in the film without giving any spoilers. So read away!

It might have been a little too much for my mood last night. I had initially hoped I would grow bored of it and become sleepy but rather it kept me interested all the way past my bedtime. The initial focus of the documentary was to create a poignant film depicting the life and death of the filmaker's best friend. The twist: the film was inspired by the best friend's murder.

As the director/producer/interviewer travels around the country visiting friends, family and loved ones of the deceased, he compiles great footage that causes the viewer to fall in love with the friend as well. While the documentary is just that, a documentary, the way it is all edited together with new and old footage you feel as if you are seeing the plot unfold in real time with character development and plot twists to boot. Not only that but the film's role to the filmmaker changes throughout the film due to events that happen and information he uncovers. I can't tell much more than that without taking the impact of the film away from you. The trailer is below, but I would argue that you should just watch the movie without seeing the trailer. It is much better to experience the whole film at once. I will leave you with  a recommendation of 4 out of 5 stars. Go click and watch!
