Wyoming Travel Weather Conditions

Friday is going to be hot, dry, and windy in central Wyoming. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect on Friday for an area that includes Casper and a large area to the north of Casper.

Travelers in the area, especially those with towing units, should take extra care. Make sure that any chains do not drag or hit the ground, which might create sparks.

The weather in central Wyoming can change drastically in a matter of hours. Winds can pick up and die down, or be quite strong in certain locations.

In addition to fire danger, such hot temperatures in the 90s make for more challenging driving conditions. Check your vehicle's fluids and make sure you've got a summertime emergency kit up to date.

For Central Wyoming: A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.
The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening.
IMPACTS: Low Humidities...Hot Temperatures...and Strong Gusty Winds could cause erratic fire behavior.
AFFECTED AREA: In Central WY (Fire Weather Zone 280)
COUNTIES AFFECTED: In Central WY...Natrona.
WIND: West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
HUMIDITY: As low as 9 percent.
TEMPERATURES: Highs between 90 and 95.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
