Expect Delays On 19th Avenue As Construction Continues
The 19th road construction project in Bozeman is huge, but the work must be done and lots of progress has been made. Here are the latest updates for the week of July 13th, and what you can expect from road crews.
Both north and south 19th have been worked on, making commutes challenging. Lane closures, limited turning options at times, torn up pavement, and heavy equipment require lots of patience.
It will be great when it's done...but it's definitely not done. Here is the latest from the Montana Department of Transportation, which oversees this project:
- This Week: Crews will begin raising manholes and valve boxes starting at the bridge and heading south.
- Paving will continue in the northbound lanes on N. 19th Avenue from Main Street to the bridge. This will include paving side streets and turning lanes.
Lane Closures: Lanes will be closed from the bridge to Main Street, and access to side streets will be intermittent; watch for directional and detour signage.
- Traffic Control: Please watch for reduced speeds and detour signage in the construction zone.
- There will be a 12-foot width restriction in place during working hours.
Construction Schedule: The work schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting.

"The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner Riverside Contracting will be completing pavement preservation activities on 19th Avenue from the Interstate 90 (I-90) overpass to the intersection with Main Street in Bozeman.
The N. 19th Avenue - Bozeman project will mill off the upper layer of pavement and replace it with new pavement. This project also includes signal upgrades and pedestrian accessibility improvements." (Montana Department of Transportation)
