Another Frost Advisory for Eastern Idaho
Spring may be in full swing but that doesn't mean the cold nights in the Rocky Mountain West are done yet. Overnight and early morning temperatures in the 30s are still common.
Take steps tonight to protect your tender garden plants. Covering, hooping, and moving indoors any pots that you can move. A closed garage should be sufficient protection for any pots or planters that are movable.
The good news is that fewer and fewer counties/areas are under a frost advisory, and weekend temperatures are looking warmer. Meaning, there shouldn't be much more of heavy garden protection to do!
- IDAHO: A FROST ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM THURSDAY.
- WHAT...Temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation.

- Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

"A frost advisory means that frost is expected or occurring, posing a risk to sensitive vegetation. It's typically issued when temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid-30s Fahrenheit (33-36°F), especially on clear and calm nights during the growing season. The risk is that frost can damage or kill plants, especially tender ones. " (National Weather Service)
