The Hold Steady‘s Craig Finn and Tad Kubler, Vampire Weekend‘s Chris Tomson and singer-songwriter Cass McCombs are among the musicians on board to perform during Move Me Brightly, a Jerry Garcia tribute concert that will be streaming live from TRI Studios tonight (Friday, Aug. 3) at 6:30PM PST / 9:30PM ET. The late Grateful Dead legend would have turned 70 today this week, and Dead guitarist Bob Weir organized the gig at his TRI Studios in San Rafael, Calif. to celebrate the life of his former bandmate.

Other rockers lined up to perform include Phish‘s Mike Gordon, Willie Nelson and Paul Simon offspring Lukas Nelson and Harper Simon, and David Crosby, who will read a piece he wrote in tribute to Garcia, titled ‘I’m Missing Him Tonight.’ Carlos Santana, meanwhile, will appear in a video interview shown during the event.

“The Jerry magic is still there,” saya producer Justin Kreutzmann, 43-year-old son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann. “All these cool people wanted to be involved, but not by reaching for the hanky and talking about the old days. Everything with Jerry was about humor and great music, so we’re trying to do this in a way that would make him chuckle.”

Move Me Brightly, which will be emceed by actor Luke Wilson, will be webcast in high-definition and viewable at both TRI’s site and at Yahoo! Music.
