Some parts of southern Montana may get up to 10 fresh inches of snow this weekend. Southern Gallatin County, the Beartooth Foothills and the Red Lodge areas should be the winners of the end-of-season storm.

The problem here is that travel may be quite dangerous and even treacherous at times as this Winter Storm Watch is supposed to happen in a very short period of time. Mostly between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. (The Red Lodge area may have snow well into Saturday afternoon/evening.)

No matter how much snow the southern portion of the state gets, just a few inches combined with gusty winds will make for dangerous travel conditions at times. ESPECIALLY after dark. This might be one of those weekends to stay off the roads if you're able to.

Be safe and be smart!
