[UPDATE 3:20PM 6/29/12] The Gallatin County Commission has issued a resolution declaring Gallatin County to have Stage One Fire Restrictions. This means you can not conduct any activities that may cause fires which includes Fireworks. During the 4th of July, this ban will be lifted unless conditions change. Below was the ban on open flames earlier today that was then revised to include fireworks as noted above.

[1:46PM 6/29/12] The City of Bozeman and Gallatin County will be activating a burn ban as of 5 p.m. tomorrow. The Fire Department is urging people to take the utmost precautions if they handle fireworks, however, an official ban on fireworks is NOT in place at this time. More details here:

The burn ban will be activated as of 5 p.m. on June 29th, and is in effect until further notice (depending on when and how much rain we get). This means no open flames (ie..bon fires, permit burns, etc.).

Explosive fire conditions have resulted in numerous wildfires that have destroyed dozens of homes and threatened the homes of hundreds of others here in Montana. Montana State Fire Marshall Allen Lorenz is asking Montanans to avoid fireworks this Fourth of July holiday as a result, however, an official ban IS NOT in place. IMPORTANT: Please remember fireworks are illegal on state and federal lands! Be safe (this year more than ever!)
