Extreme winds are occurring today for several counties in northern Montana, with 60 - 65 mph gusts possible.

According to the National Weather Service:

  • HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING.
  • WHAT...Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph occurring.
  • WHERE...Northern Rocky Mountain Front, Eastern Glacier, Toole, Liberty, Eastern Pondera, Southern Rocky Mountain Front and Eastern Teton.
  • WHEN...Until 6 PM this evening.
  • IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow down limbs, trees, and power lines.
  • A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
  • The strongest winds are expected from late morning through early afternoon.
  • People should secure loose items and avoid being around large trees and branches.
  • Use caution if you must drive.
