The HIGHEST elevations could see up to a foot of fresh snow this weekend with a Winter Weather Advisory lasting from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Areas near the Montana/Idaho border should be the most affected. Gusty winds will play a factor in this front as well.

Snow, wind, rain and warm temps have again prompted the GNFAC to issue an Avalanche Warning for Friday.

This week is turning out to be the epitome of winter in Montana with lots of snow, wind and advisories galore. DANGEROUS winds are possible through Thursday especially in the higher elevations.

We received varied amounts of snow last night across the GNFAC area but it added up to a lot...prompting an Avalanche Warning for Tuesday February 7th, 2017.

All of Southwest Montana is facing a Winter Storm Watch until 5pm on Wednesday with the the valleys facing up to 10 inches of snow and the mountains facing 20 inches possible!

An Avalanche Warning is in effect for several areas of Southwest Montana starting this afternoon.

Enough snow fell on Sunday night over the mountains of southwest Montana for the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center to issue an Avalanch Warning for Gallatin County on Monday.

Several inches of in-town snow, gusty winds and much colder temperatures are in the forecast for the Bozeman area. Travel could be extremely hazardous at times with blowing and drifting snow along with low visibility.

Several inches of fresh snow in the mountains is attractive, but also dangerous. There has been an Avalanche Warning issued for Gallatin County, Friday December 2nd.

Yesterday, winter officially ended with the Equinox.  Saying good-bye to an old, reliable friend is difficult, but spring seems full of energy and ready to play. It started snowing early this morning and at 6 a.m six inches of wet, dense snow has fallen in the mountains.

The storms have finally ended.  It snowed 13 days in a row in our advisory area, a pretty sweet system that dropped over 6 feet of snow outside Cooke City.  I was there last Sunday and had the throttle pinned to get anywhere.  The snowpack is getting stronger by the day.  With high pressure settling over Montana bringing sunny skies the backcountry riding and skiing will be great.
