All of Southwest Montana is facing a Winter Storm Watch until 5 p.m. on Wednesday with the the valleys facing up to 10 inches of snow and the mountains facing a possible 20 inches.

According to the National Weather Service:

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

  • LOCATIONS - ALL OF SOUTHWEST MONTANA, PORTIONS OF CENTRAL MONTANA AND THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT.
  • TIMING - PERIODS OF SNOW, HEAVY AT TIMES, WILL DEVELOP BY LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND THEN CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
  • THIS WILL BE A PROLONGED SNOW EVENT.
  • SNOW ACCUMULATIONS - 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW AT LOWER ELEVATIONS... AND 10 TO 20 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAINS.
  • ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.
  • POOR TO DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.
  • TRY TO COMPLETE ANY TRAVEL OR PREPARATIONS FOR THIS STORM ON MONDAY.
  • A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
