Don’t Do This When Snowmobiling in YNP
A series of videos were recently posted to YouTube that show a group of snowmobilers getting charged by a bison in Yellowstone National Park.
To be honest, I couldn't watch the videos without becoming somewhat upset. We hear stories all of the time about how visitors should keep their distance when they encounter wild animals in Yellowstone.
In the video, the group of snowmobilers obviously disregarded those warnings and got a little too close to a bison. The bison, clearly irritated by the snowmobiles began charging riders as they went by.
Many media outlets have published stories with titles like "Snowmobilers Charged by Bison in Yellowstone." Here's the thing. If those people hadn't got so close, the bison wouldn't have charged them. The correct headline should read "Watch As These Stupid People Do Something Stupid in Yellowstone."
The fact is, many people that visit the park have shown a lack of common sense in recent years. They put their lives at risk to get a video they can post on social media to get likes and comments. People put themselves in these situations, and then complain when they get injured. We just need to do our part to stop making stupid people famous.
