Daytime temperatures are expected to hit 100 degrees or more on Monday and Tuesday for a large chunk of the northwest. Heat Advisories and Fire Weather Watches are in effect for eastern Washington and western/northern Idaho.

Temperatures in Montana are also expected to jump on Monday and Tuesday, although not nearly as much. Several counties in Montana may see low 90s for daytime highs.

The Advisories for northern and southern Idaho are different, and both of them are listed below.

  • NORTHERN IDAHO: A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM MONDAY TO 9 PM TUESDAY.
  • WHAT...High temperatures between 90 and 102 degrees.
  • Overnight lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
  • WHERE...Portions of North and North Central Idaho and Central, East Central, North Central, Northeast, and Southeast Washington.
  • WHEN...From 9 AM Monday to 9 PM Tuesday.
  • IMPACTS...Hot temperatures will affect anyone without effective cooling and adequate hydration.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The Advisory for areas in southern Idaho is a bit different, shorter in length, and temperatures may be higher.

  • SOUTHERN IDAHO: A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 7 PM TUESDAY.
  • WHAT...Temperatures up to 102 expected.
  • WHERE...Lower Snake Plain, Treasure Valley, and Weiser Basin.
  • WHEN...From 11 AM  to 7 PM Tuesday.
  • IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young, elderly, and animals.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing.
  • Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
