Special Red Flag Warning For All Of Southern Idaho
Weather conditions in southern Idaho are sketchy with hot temperatures, gusty winds, low humidity, and rowdy lightning storms expected. Fire danger increases dramatically, and Red Flag Warnings have been issued.
Any fire that starts due to lightning will catch fuel and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended in Red Flag conditions.
For ease of explanation, the portion of Idaho that will experience dangerous conditions on Thursday are directly south of I-84.
If you're traveling through the area, especially with any towing units, make sure nothing is dragging on road surface. Sparks on a roadway are a frequent cause of roadside fires.
FYI: The speed limit on Interstate 84 in Idaho varies by location. In rural areas, it's generally 80 mph for passenger vehicles, while in urban areas like Caldwell, it's 65 mph.
