Dangerous Wind Conditions For Idaho Continue Monday
Very windy conditions exist for central and northeastern Idaho through Thursday evening. Traveling on major highways might be difficult at times, especially for tall vehicles or towing units. Please use caution!
Two issues are at play in Idaho currently: wind in the east, and frost in the north.
- A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT TO 9 PM MONDAY EVENING.
- WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
- WHERE...Eastern Magic Valley, Shoshone/Lava Beds, Arco/Mud Lake Desert, Lower Snake River Plain, Raft River Region, Southern Hills/Albion Mountains, and Upper Snake River Plain.
- WHEN...Until 9 PM Monday evening.
- IMPACTS...Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
- Unsecured objects may be blown around.
- Blowing dust may reduce visibility, especially along Interstate 15 north of Idaho Falls.

Not only are there Idaho wind issues, but portions of norther Idaho are facing frost warnings. Those who have early plantings should take note, as the frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. According to the National Weather Service:
- A FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 8 AM TUESDAY.
- WHAT...Temperatures as low as 32 will result in frost formation.
- WHERE...Orofino/Grangeville Region.
- WHEN...From midnight tonight to 8 AM Tuesday.
- IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.
- Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The threat for frost will extend into Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, with similar temperatures in the forecast.
"A frost advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when temperatures are forecast to drop to 33 to 36 degrees Fahrenheit, posing a threat to sensitive vegetation."
